On Saturday, February 6th, 2016, Binghamton University hosted the 2016 NY Southern Tier Division C Science Olympiad. Fourteen teams representing 12 local high schools participated in 20 events from all fields of the Life Sciences, Math and Engineering, including, for example, Astronomy and Wind Power. Close to 200 students competed in these events, with the teams of Vestal High School and Maine-Endwell High School taking 1st and 2nd place, moving on to the State competition.
Over 60 volunteers, from a variety of departments of Binghamton University, SUNY Broome, and area partners, helped to make this event a success. The event was sponsored by the Binghamton American Chemical Society (ACS) Local Section, the Department of Physics and Astronomy, and the Department of Chemistry at Binghamton University.
